Subject: Your views please

Guys I need your advice please, we are still having trouble with our African Grey (Olly) which we have had over a year now, he/she still will not go near my wife or children without biting them quite hard at times, we are all kind to him/her (not had it sexed) but he/she will only come to me and still occasionally bites me quite hard at times drawing blood.

I have read on a web site that you can train parrots but you must starve them for a day or so to get them into training mode, is this right?? we would never do anything to distress our bird.

we brought the bird which was advertised as hand reared but we are now having doubts about that
