A stunning dress from Gavin Doherty, this dress has a great stage presence.
The bodice is black lace overlaid with gold sequins, with a centre insert of pink satin overlaid with pale pink, pearl encrusted lace. The sleeves are also in pink satin overlaid with pink, pearl encrusted lace. The skirt is pink satin, overlaid with sequined white organza, embroidered in black . Shaped skirt inserts are black lace, overlaid with gold sequins. An underskirt of pale pink beaded lace finishes off the intricately shaped skirt.
The lining and kick pants are large black polka dot on a white background.
12 months old, dancer has outgrown this beautiful dress.
Measurements: Chest 32 inches, Waist 26 inches, Outside sleeve length 23 inches

This elegant one piece dress has a pointed waist, four separated panels and a soft bottom edge. The black velvet bodice and skirt has deep pink velvet panel inserts. A soft bottom edge is made of very feminine light pink lace with hundreds of glittering crystal chips. This dress was made in June 2008 by Reeldress, and worn only once for the 2008 North American Championships. The dress is generously accented with hundreds of Swarovski crystals. The Halloween Feis, 2008 - Chicago, IL -- Halloween Feis, 14:57:31 08/20/08 Wed
The Halloween Feis, 2008, will be held again at the McCook Athletic Exposition Center, in McCook, IL, on Saturday, October 25, 2008.
Last year the Halloween Feis, proved to be a fun day for all dancers, siblings, and their parents, as the lead up to the Oireachtas can be very stressful time for many dancers and their parents. The feis offered a day where all those worries and concerns disappeared, and the children enjoyed Irish dance to the full.
Participants are strongly encouraged to attend in costume, as will the adjudicators and musicians. For each treble reel competition there will be an additional prize awarded for the best Halloween costume. All treble reel proceeds will be donated to National Breast Cancer Foundation.
This year for all Preliminary and Open Championship competitions we will be using the same scoring system used at the Oireachtas, and each dancer will be adjudicated by NINE adjudicators, and all Preliminary and Open Championship dancers will be given the opportunity to dance their open set dance.
We have booked six overseas adjudicators and a further six out of state adjudicators, along with seven very accomplished musicians.
The feis will start of with a Halloween Parade at 8am, and throughout the day fun Halloween games and activities will be offered to all feis participants.
Event fee includes unlimited admission, parking, program, email results and indicidual PC/OC results distributed the same day.
Results will also be texted to your cell phone
Registration is being accepted via http://www.efeis.com and additional information can be found at http://www.halloweenfeis.net
Our host hotel is the Holiday Inn, Countyside, IL. We have secured a rate of $109 plus tax per night. You may make your reservation by calling 708-354-4200, and quoting IRISH DANCE as the booking reference. Rooms must be booked by September 24, 2007.

As we're all gearing up for the "O", there's a lot of things to wonder about. How does feis level affect recall or placement? What about when you started dancing, when you learned your "O" steps, how often you practiced, or whether or not you tanned?
As a first time "O"-goer, I created a survey for people in the US and Canada who went to the O in 05, 06, or 07. It has some questions about your level, "look", school, and experience and how it might relate to how you did.
Of course, this survey won't give any definite answers, but any information helps for those of us going into unfamiliar territory!

ABC'S WIFE SWAP SEEKS IRISH STEP DANCING FAMILIES FOR PRIMETIME!
My name is Danielle Gervais. I'm a Casting Producer for ABC's Primetime show, "Wife Swap." We’re currently gearing up for our fifth season and we're looking for one-of-a-kind families with plenty of personality to take part in the show. Specifically, we’re looking for families who live and breathe Irish Step Dancing and make it an integral part of their lives. If your house is filled with ghillies, hard shoes and lots of rollers, we want to hear from you! Families who participate in this documentary-style program are given a unique opportunity to share their beliefs and lifestyles with another family in order to foster tolerance and understanding one family at a time.
In case you are unfamiliar with the show, the premise of Wife Swap is to take two different families and have the moms switch places to experience how another family lives. Half of the week, mom lives the life of the family she is staying with. After making her observations, she introduces several "rule changes," where she implements rules and activities that are important to her family. It's a positive experience for people to not only learn but teach about other families and other ways of life. Wife Swap airs on Disney owned ABC television on Wednesdays at 8 pm- the family hour!
Requirements: Each family must consist of two parents and at least one child between 6 and 17 and should reside in the continental U.S. (There may be other children living in the home who are older or younger than the required age…as long as one child is in the required age range.)
Participating in the show is a very unique experience that can be life changing for everyone. Families that appear on the show will receive a financial honorarium for lost wages, time and commitment. Anyone who refers a family that appears on our program receives $1000 as a 'thank you’ from us.

This was a poem I had from years ago when my twins were competitive figure skaters. Having one twin qualify for
Worlds and the other one never getting out of "States", I felt the need to come up with something that was directed to each and every skater.
I adapted it to commend every single DANCER out there. You all work so hard and deserve recognition. You're always a
winner when you do your best = )
My twins are in their 30's now & all but a few of the dozens of trophies, medals and plaques are gone, but the fond memories they made with family & friends will be treasured forever : )
FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS BUT GATHER PRECIOUS MEMORIES ALONG THE WAY!
"THE PODIUM"
To me, the podium is much bigger
than the one we see three or four dancers
stand atop of so proudly.
I see the stages at Worlds as a podium,
upon which each dancer who steps upon it
can be proclaimed a World Qualifier.
I see the stages at Nationals as a podium,
upon which each competitor who stand on it
can be considered a winner.
I see the stages at the Oireachtas as a podium too,
giving dancers who have mastered many skills
throughout the season the opportunity to be
"in the spotlight" by dancing in a championship.
I see the stages at local feishana as being a podium,
as it provides new dancers a chance
to "be on stage" in front of a crowd of spectators,
showing off their newly discovered talents.
It's also at "dance-outs" and floors at the studios,
in our kitchens and basements..churches included ; )
Even sidewalks and beaches,
stores and mall halls aren't excluded!
So, the podium, at least in my eyes,
is much bigger than the numbered box
so many dream of standing atop of.
Each time we enter a stage,
no matter where we are,
we are actually already standing atop it,
and we should be thankful that we have
the dancing skills we do,
skills that others must settle for
only dreaming of : )

"The dresses are apparently being copied from original designs. Dresses are made in China and sold at really low prices. Please do not support this operation! Buyer beware--dresses are being mass produced. Same design available in multiple sizes.
If you are a dressmaker, please contact the seller and tell them to stop stealing your designs.

The scholarship will be awarded to one high school senior graduating in the Spring of 2008 with plans to attend college or university in the Fall.

The MHoB Feis, 2008, will be held this year at the Benedictine University, in Lisle, IL on Saturday, May 3rd and Sunday May 4th, 2008.
The First Feis and Beginner through Open Prizewinner competitions will take place on Saturday, May 3rd, 2008, and all Preliminary and Open Championships will take place on Sunday, May 4th, 2008. This year we have added an additional Preliminary Set Dance competition, which will enable all Preliminary dancers to practise their set dance for the upcoming North American Championships.
All proceeds received from the treble reel competitions will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc.
Entries are being accepted through http://www.efeis.com, and entries will be open on Friday, January 11, 2008.
There will be a panel of 10 out of state adjudicators.

Sarah Marince, a 17 year old Irish dancer with the Bell School in Pittsburgh, PA has spent the past few months on Music Row in Nashville completing her first Nashville CD titled "Somebody Like You." Her CD will be available for sale on CDBaby.com and other local Pittsburgh retailers the second week of January. Her CD Release Party is scheduled for January 12...go to her myspace for details. We are Independent Concert Productions and we own a Productionn called "The Magic of Ireland". Our troupe is currently on a 12 week tour in the UK and then a 2
week tour in Europe. Our production has been touring for the past 3 years. We have a tour already scheduled for Spring & Summer 2008, plus other possibilities in the works.
We are currently looking for Senior Irish Dancers that are at least at the pre-lim level, that is finished competitions and would like to continue dancing. My name is Christian Bruhn. I am completing graduate studies in exercise science at Central Washington University. I am working under the direction of Dr. Vince Nethery, Professor in CWU's Department of Health, Human Performance and Nutrition. My thesis work is focused on designing a workout program customized for the movements associated with Irish Dancing.
I am requesting your assistance in completing a survey designed to examine the training habits among dancers. The study will help determine the relationship between skill level, extracurricular activities, cross-training and injuries within the Irish dance population. The research conducted will be used to help develop a training manual focused on preparing dancers for competition.
Information will be obtained from past and present competitive Irish Dancers of all age and skill level groups. Ages will range from 10 to adult (minor participation in the study will be completed by parent or guardian).
An anonymous survey has been constructed to provide information on gender, age, skill-level, dance training, cross-training activities, extracurricular activities and injuries. Two surveys will be utilized (a survey for adult dancers, and a survey for parents/guardians of minor dancers 18 and under).

Reasonable and appropriate safeguards have been used in the creation of these web-based surveys to maximize the confidentiality and security of your responses. Participants cannot be identified through this survey¯ directly, demographically or statistically. No contact information or direct response is requested on the survey.
I am hoping for your assistance in obtaining the information needed to conduct this research. With your assistance we can better identify and refine the training tools and techniques to help create stronger and healthier dancers.

Here is a challenge from Rince na Tiarna (of Buffalo, and Erie) to all dance schools in the U.S.A - beyond would be great too. With so many dancers this time of year spending a great deal of time in hotels for your Oireachtas…grab all the unused toiletries provided for you in your hotel room. If each school could bundle them up and send them for the troops overseas or local homeless shelters it would make a great impact. We have adopted 4 RNT family members troops and have already sent blank holiday cards for the troops to be able to send back home. We are collecting Christmas cards written from our dancers, calling cards, hotel/trial size personal hygiene products, sunscreen, and chapstick to send over. The big prize of this challenge is the great feeling you will have for uniting as a whole Irish Dance group doing a great deed. The men and woman overseas appreciate any products sent. Thanks.

The entry deadline for the first ever Halloween Feis is quickly approaching. Registration is currently open via http://www.efeis.com and will close on October 7, 2007. There is only have five days left to register and join in on all the FUN!!!!
The feis will take place on Saturday, October 27, 2007, at the McCook Athletic and Exposition Center, in McCook, IL. (http://www.max-mccook.com)
The feis will start out with a Halloween Parade of all our First Feis and Beginner dancers, who are in costume. There will be fun Halloween games and activities throughout the day, an abundance of Halloween candy, and the odd adjudicator and musician in costume.
We have an outstanding set of adjudicators booked for this event, with three overseas adjudicators, one who has never judged in North America before, and two who have never judged in Chicago before. The Halloween Feis, is the perfect opportunity to dance away your pre Oireachtas jitters, and iron out those new dances.
