Subject: Angley Off-Tackle for The Score !!!

Seeing Daylight and squeezing thru two defenders the NorCal all-time scoring leader brought his slashing style to the Finale of this year's most heated rivalry --- The Broncos and The Gaels ... with the clock ticking down and just one play left ... The Broncos give the ball to the fantastic, fireplug out of Redding's Enterprise High ...

SANTA CLARA - Jason Walberg didn't give Brody Angley much daylight. Maybe an inch or two, if that.

Apparently, that was all Angley needed to drill an off-balance 10-footer that not only broke a tie but also broke the St. Mary's College basketball team's collective heart Friday night. Angley's clutch bucket gave Santa Clara a thrilling 78-76 win over the Gaels at the Leavey Center.

Angley gives Santa Clara thrilling win over Gaels

Santa Clara freshman guard Brody Angley didn't know a lot about the school's 96-year-old rivalry before he signed with the Broncos.

He learned a lot more about it this week. And Friday night he became part of that history.

Angley hit the winning shot with 2.4 seconds left as Santa Clara beat St. Mary's 78-76, setting off a wild celebration in the Leavey Center.

Angley wasn't the first option on the play, but he ended up with the ball. He drove to about 10 feet out on the left side and fired a slightly off- balance jumper.

"It was an in-the-moment reaction," said Angley, who had scored just two points up to that point. He wasn't sure if the shot was good. "I was hoping so, " he said.
