I've always believed sin effects BOTH the body and soul. For instance, if I knowingly cheat on a test, I would feel a sense of remorse later on, maybe to the point of not being able to sleep or concentrate. Those instances can cause havoc on the body.

And, if I don't confess my wrongdoing, my soul will constantly be filled with anguish.

So, we are to exercise what John spoke of in I John 1:9: "But if we confess our sins to Him, He can be depended on to forgive us and to cleanse us from every wrong." We must always confess our sins, no matter how big or small (if there's such a thing as the size of a sin!)
