NER retired dancer turned SR resident! -- Slowey Photography, 09:12:57 11/05/24 Tue
Since ending my competitive chapter years ago, I have made a career as a photographer specializing in Irish dance, seniors, and families. After living in Nashville for the past 4 years, I'm so excited to attend my first SRO!
Slowey Photography captures dancers in an authentic style, based on their unique dance journey, for images that showcase what it truly means to define yourself as “Irish dancer”. I photograph these authentic moments by working with your dancer to learn about their personal relationship to the sport, so that when it’s time to hang up the wig they can look back on the memories that truly mattered the most. Plus, I bring over 20 years of competitive experience with me to coach them through poses to photograph the best technique for their skill level.
I have sessions available in Orlando, December 6-8! I am offering both full length sessions, for the full experience with professional makeup included complimentary, styling assistance, location flexibility, and the ability to include Class of 2025 senior photos and/or siblings OR mini sessions for a more time and budget friendly option!
Let’s work together to capture the photos the future version of your dancer is thanking you for.
Get to know my story more by following along @SloweyPhotography on social media, or reach out for booking info at SloweyPhotography [at] gmail [dot] com

A reminder to those out there saying most dancers aren't affected by the cheating. -- Everyone pays the price, 13:46:45 10/08/24 Tue
We've all read the comments that this cheating only affects those at the top and that you child wasn't personally affected. Those people forget that the podium is not the goal for the vast majority of dancers out there. For many, a recall at Oireachtas or Nationals would be a dream come true. Others are aiming for a world qualification and are thrilled even if they're in the last qualifying spot. Still others are aiming for a recall at worlds and a smaller group is aiming for a world medal. And yes, some legitimately aim for the podium or even 1st place.
The texts that we've seen ask for favors at ALL of these levels. Yes, the texts that beg for 100 stand out, but the ones asking for a WQ or just a recall should concern us more because that affects far more of our dancers. Just think of the cascading effects cheating in just one Oireachtas age group could have: one dancer missed the podium because their teacher wanted someone else on it that day; someone gets boosted into a WQ position ahead of a dancer who deserved it; a dancer misses a NQ due to several rogue high marks for the dancers just above them; a dancer from a small school misses the recall because enough far inferior dancers from bigger school got taken care of. It just snowballs to the point where dozens of dancers in each competition end up getting more or less than they deserve on the day. For too long we've shaken our heads in disbelief and chalked it up to "stylistic preferences" or any of the other tired excuses we've been told to believe.
I am sick looking at these texts from judges my daughter has danced in front of and now realizing they were never going to judge and rank her according to her performance. In large enough Oireachtas competitions, the podium, the top 10, and the WQ list appear to be mostly, if not fully, predetermined.

The consensus when she took the helm was that she wasn't a bright woman but wanted to be an agent for change. However, when she finally got in a position of power, she continued the cover up started by James McCutcheon managing to waste a small fortune in cash reserves and accomplishing nothing except getting all cheaters off the hook. Why hasn't there been a movement to impeach Ms. Connick and replace her with someone who can reverse the direction we're heading. She's failed on all fronts and has been financially ruinous. It's clear she cannot do the job. Who will be brave enough to put up a public motion of no confidence?

Motion 6: Proposed by James McCutcheon
Prior to agreeing any Increases in Oireachtas Fees, CLRG should consider realistic savings attainable by reverting back to pre-2019 judging systems. i.e. 1-day competitions for all categories. In addition, savings from other areas should also be considered. This would be for one year only, due to the considerable loss expected for Dublin 2025, should the status quo remain. Only once agreed savings have been factored in, should any increases in entry fees be made to attain a break-even budget.

Dear IDTANA Members,
Thank you to all who attended the informational meetings on June 2 and June 9. Your input and engagement is much appreciated by all delegates representing North America at CLRG.
Please review the proposed motions (click here to view) that will be discussed and voted on at the upcoming EGM on June 14, 2024.
After considering the motions - and hopefully with greater understanding following the past two weeks of meetings and discussions - please respond to an IDTANA poll to provide your opinion on each of the 16 motions:
https://forms.gle/9MPREXMkGYehQ9Wr7
Please note ...
Respondents are asked to indicate their positions on a scale of 1 (strongly against) to 5 (strongly in favor), with 3 indicating "undecided" or in need of more information.
You will be asked to provide your email, name, region and CLRG registration number in order to ensure the integrity of the poll.
Responses are confidential and will be summarized for CLRG delegates.
The poll will close at 11:59 pm PDT on Wednesday, June 12. A summary of the results will be distributed to the membership on Friday, June 14.

Dear Southern Region Colleague -- P.J. McCafferty, ADCRG, 07:14:30 06/10/24 Mon
Dear Southern Region Colleague,
The financial crisis at CLRG is very serious. It is very real.
I urge you to vote to accept the new registration fee and the new entry fees. CLRG needs income now. It needs the promise of income in the future to secure financing to cover the period of operational reform. These increases are an investment in a CLRG better prepared to serve you in the future.
The effort to reform CLRG continues. Please remember changes already accomplished:
A change in leadership.
Independent CLRG organizational study.
Registrant voting for All Ireland and Worlds adjudicators.
Recruiting Professional Management for CLRG.
Improved Office management and efficiency.
Continued work on other projects to improve CLRG.
Change is slow because it is hard. However, the Members who are persistently promoting the necessary changes have been effective. They are dedicated to improving CLRG.
Please note that there is a countermotion in opposition to raising the registration fees. By custom and practice in CLRG, the countermotion will be voted on first. If the countermotion passes, the original motion will not be voted on, it is considered defeated by the countermotion. The countermotion leaves the CLRG Registration Fees the same as they were last year. It assesses every registrant a one-time amount of money to pay for:
1.a €348,334 ($376,894) the 2023 Gibney Communications public relations expenses.
1.b. 2024 Gibney expenses unknown. Gibney is working on a project pricing basis.
2. €156,992 ($169,759) the cost of the SIA Organizational Review
3. Managing Director, Communications and Marketing Director costs unknown as
of yet.
On April 15 there were 2,078 Registrants. The known onetime assessment in the
countermotion is approximately $250 at today’s currency exchange rate, without other currency-related fees. The motion is unclear as to 2024 expenses and which of the MD and COMS expenses would be assessed to Registrants.
Please follow this link to complete a poll on the items scheduled on the agenda of the 6/14 EGM. Polling will end at 11:59 PM EDT, Wednesday June 12th .
Sincerely,
P.J. McCafferty, ADCRG
Regional Director
IDTANA-Southern Region

So it’s ok to call for boycotts and not allow dancers to feis but then run a feis and expect others to support? What is happening?! Things just continue to get worse. And this time from the bottom up.
