You answered your own question on why Pax was waived.
He did not have the strongest of starts to the season (check his stats) Just like last year. Thus he was second fiddle to Blair.
I don't know how well you know Pax but he doesn't have the best of attitudes as a back up goalie. He makes little effort in pre game warm ups when he is not starting and often is not very supportive of the team when the other goalie is playing. So he created his own situation.
Never the less I also wish Pax the best of luck.
