Extended filming time wasn't because of Zhang Ziyi
From what Li Bing Bing has revealed, "The Purple Butterfly" is director Lou Hua's work of 10 years, she feels that this film strives for a documentary style and is slightly boring: "The only romantic part is the scene where Li Bing Bing and Liu Hua are dancing".

Lou Hua's filming is very serious and so the filming was extended once and again "apart from this there was no other reason", so this is not like it has been said on the internet that we were waiting for Zhang Ziyi. The costumes for the drama were all brand new and then made to look old and this took time. Also for a shot lasting 7 mins and 47 seconds, the production team built a new bridge over two old platforms were in a disused train station in Nanjing, spending 200-300 thousand dollars and then for 10 shots were filming for over half a day. Apart from this, whilst filming "The Purple Butterfly" out of the four main characters, "Feng Yuanjing was also in a play, I was also filming TV serial "Times of Love", Zhang Ziyi and Liu Hua were also busy with other things" and because of this the schedules were forever being rearranged.

Li Bing Bing has a car accident

Liu Hua is very angry about this and particularly wishes for reporter to help him to put right this incorrect reports, and he himself has also called Zhang Ziyi to explain the situation.
