Well said. A very Republican friend, who was a Whitewater city councilman, once told me that on the local level, you HAVE to be a tax and spend liberal. The local municipalities have so little money as it is that you're a fool to want to lower taxes. It has nothing to do with personal gain (most city councils are unpaid), it's just that simple things like stop lights and pot holes have to be taken care of.

So the people who vote for local officials because of an affiliated party are only fooling themselves.
