Maniac didn't react to anything that was going on. He just stayed there, concentrating. A man calmly walked up to Maniac, thinking he was an easy target. When he got within 20 feet of Maniac, he started to shake and jerk uncontrolably. He fell to the ground, mouth foaming, and still twitching. He then soiled himself, and went limp. The brainwaves created by Maniac had literally torn his mind apart. And the area of effect was growing. Several others dropped, and died in the same fashion. Then, it stopped. For the first time since he had began concentrating, Maniac opened his eyes and took a deep breath in. He closed his eyes once more, and lifted his head skyward. The blue light from the crystal was shining brilliantly, but not blindingly. The crystal's energy warped reality around it, making hallucinations become reality, then back to hallucinations. The sword began to plummet towards the ground.
The sword hit the ground, blade pointed straight at the earth. When it hit the ground, the crystal's energy, along with Maniac's mind, combined with it. The result, was a deafening *Boom* and a blinding light. A shockwave ripped through the area, but didn't physically effect anything. Instead, soldiers started dropping like flies, all shuddering and falling in the same manner as the first few had. The shockwave seemed to warp around Maniac's allies, though, not effecting them at all. The shockwave continued for at least a mile, before dissipating. Anything caught in it's path suffered the same fate as the others. Maniac fell to the ground, not moving.
