Man, I love that game, Ragnarok Online! Or, at least I loved it for a while. I played it for some two years, but after a while some pet peeves evolved into big deals and I quit.
The mean people weren't that big a problem at first but there were just so many ignorant and arrogant people ruining my day after a while that I just couldn't take it. Also, the amount of cheaters and s in the game is very annoying.
After spending months and lots of dollars growing to a high level, I felt so angry when I learned that people had done that in a few days with a cheating device. It makes me so mad.
The game has a weird system of fun. From levels 1-5 it's fun, then from 5-10 it's not that fun, then from 10-20 it's fun, then from 20-30 THE GAME IS SOOOOO FREAKING FUN!!!!! Then from 30-40 the game just sucks. Then at 40-60 it starts getting fun again, and then from 60-70...well that depends. If you screwed up your stats even a little, at this point all the fun dies. Screwed up your stats RUINS the game.
The game lets you distribute your own stats. You can become a STR-filled heavyweight who can bowl over enemies, or a VIT-driven tank who takes 1 damage from most monsters, or an AGI-fiend who can dodge any attack with no effort, or a DEX, INT, or LUK user, which all have their own advantages. But if you screw up on your stats...you will have HELL leveling, making money, and finding people to hunt with. Also, it is very hard to make money in the game, so if you want to compensate for a stat mistake using badass equipment, you'll need MILLIONS of Zeny. I can't believe how greedy the other players are, literally charging you millions of zeny for stuff.
The cheaters / s / hard to level / not allowed to make mistakes / other stuff made me so angry that after two years I quit. It was probably one of the hardest things I ever had to do.
I think the graphics are beautiful, and the characters and classes are so well-made, but it's pretty much just a point-and-click game where you kill monsters, level up, kill stronger monsters. There are lots of people to talk to and friends to make, but more stupid people than cool people.
I'm not bashing the game; I reccomend it. But it will suck up your money and your life if you get too addicted to it...so beware...
I'm thinking of returning to it one day, when it is improved, and the stupid people are gone.
