Please be informed about our experience with a breeder Kerwin Abels aka KB Kennels in Missouri in hopes others ask the right questions and make clear decisions before purchasing a dog from him. We purchased a Doberman from him in March of 2012 and learned our lesson. We never received the papers or shot records we were promised, we were given a health guarantee but never explained to what that means. In the first 5 months of our dobies life we received her from the breeder with a severely infected tail from improper docing, a terrible case of hook worms..ring worms and coccidia which took multiple rounds of medication to clear up. Recently our dobie developed an internal infection which the surgeons say could have entered through the infected tail requiring emergency surgery to save her life. Communication with the breeder about the health guarantee was only responded with return the puppy for a new one or a request of refund to help with the cost of the surgery was denied. Still two and half months later no shot records, no registration papers...we love our puppy and are praying she gets better soon. We now know what to look for when purchasing a puppy from a breeder but on the bright side we look at it as a rescue instead of a purchase.
