Hammond Castle hosts “A Dickens Christmas”!

Pastimes of Revere brings Victorian England to life to create a unique, family-friendly holiday shopping experience!

Hammond Castle in Gloucester hosts the annual “A Dickens Christmas” for two festive weekends in December! The special holiday event will run from 10 AM until 3 PM on December 7 & 8 and December 14 & 15.

The cast and crew of interactive theater company Pastimes of Revere is currently hard at work preparing for the most unique holiday event in Massachusetts. Crafters from across the state will set up shop in the festively-decorated castle while costumed performers re-create Charles Dickens' enduring vision of Victorian England at Christmastime!

Pastimes works with Hammond Castle on several events each year, including the King Arthur Faire in April, the Robin Hood Faire in July, and the Castle of the Damned in October.

Each day of “A Dickens Christmas” will feature Victorian music, dancing, parlor games, strolling carolers, numerous independent variety acts, shopping, and food and refreshments. Charles Dickens himself, played by actor Clifford M. Allen of Somerville, will read from “A Christmas Carol” and Father Christmas will make a special appearance.

“A Dickens Christmas” will be held rain or shine both weekends.

Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens and students with ID, and $5 for children. Proceeds from the event will got toward castle restoration and maintenance projects.

Free parking and a free shuttle bus are available at Stage Fort Park.

Hammond Castle is not wheelchair accessible.
