Until you reach the final dungeon,fighting Grand Dragons is the best place to level up.One area where you can fight them 100% of the time is just outside that Grotto leding to Burmecia,on the cliffs.just climb up that ladder near to the 2 Moogles and their kids(the male Moogle will shout a warning at you)to reach that area.Run out in the open and not in the 2 forests to always fight a Grand Dragon for over 8000 Exp. points.The enemies in the final dungeon will give you over 10000Exp.,so it's best there.Of course,the most experince you can possibly get is in Vile Island to the southeast of the ice continent(you need an airship or Gold Chocobo to reach it).There's a downright annoying enemy there called the Yan(looks like a cute little sheep)which usually appears in packs of 3 and can give a total of over 33000Exp. for the battle.Be warned though,that these guys are EXTREMELY tough with their Comet and Snort abilities.I still had a LOT of problems fighting them even at level 99(each Yan has 17000HP and high defence,btw).
