He stirred himself from his comfortable postion curled up in the snow. He rose, stretched and sniffed curiously. His aloof eyes scanned the horizon, and his atuned ears twitched considering the best plan of returning the call. He picked up a lope and ran down through the trees,His thick coat blended in with the forest and only his yellow eyes, those eyes filled with knowledge and cunning, stood out in the dark. A mouse darted in front of him and pounced, he hadnt eaten since the carrion deer earlier that day. He easily caught the mouse between swift paws, and powerful jaws that could bring down a buck, snatched the mouse and gobbled him up. He licked his lips and resumed his journey. Trotting on, he saw a lovely wolf in the clearing. He stood perfectly still in the forest, so that only the most experienced eye could detect him from the shadows. He grinned a wolfish grin, showing his sharp fangs. He melted out of the shadows and stepped lightly into the clearing, barely leaving footprints. Like the hunter he treated her like prey and sat waiting until she came to him. He would not waste his effort on any old she wolf. He expected this one was the same as all the others he met. His gazed dared her to try to be differnt, just try...
