Good points in regard to the Giles, Monty debate, but like you I am pretty sure we will not see much of Jones(S) down under. As a result the team either need another 90+mph bowler to take his place, or a potential match winning spinner. Saj did ok but I would fear for him in Oz at present, Broad, Footitt, etc far to raw, to many loose balls at present. Anderson is the best bet as a direct replacement and I'd prob choose between him and Monty depending on the pitch. My favour for Monty is that so far he has bowled his tests stuff at less than 2.5 runs an over (no Gilly or Hayden but at least a Dohni and VS) and looks, to me, a better wicket taking spinner than Giles. I like Gilo but would only bowl him in a five man attack, never a four.
I see your point re. Jones and Read but I'd argue Read has improved alot over the past two seasons and was far to young when debuted, unlike Jones. Again I wouldn't cast Jones adrift, but like Giles I would only play him when I need five bowlers, and I have concerns about to many guys batting one place to high at present. Three seamers ain't perfect but I can't see Flintoff having another ashes at six in him and we must take our chances behind the stumps.
