About going to smaller sizes, etc.? I'd be open to trying it sometime...but as a "special issue" one-shot to see if it would actually work out OK or not. With the copy shops in my area (not to sound like I'm putting them down) it would be awfully hard for me to even attempt it. It sounds like it would be almost no trouble for Larned though.
I think the main issue is the concern with the postage costs. I experiemented with sending some by book rate/media mail when I first started as CM, and might look into it again. This time I would do it right by actually taking in a copy of a recent APA-5 and maybe talking with the post master about it. Before, it was too confusing for both the clerks (and me). And if I did start sending some by book rate again, it would only be to a few people in the immediate area, and plus only with those guys' permission that it would be oK. But even sending 1-2 by book rate can make a pretty good difference in the overall total...if the post master approves book rate/media mail for the APA-5 issues, that is.
Whew! Didn't mean to go on that long!
