Anyone know the christian name of the people that have died sitting in that chair? I have drunk in the Greyhound many times over the years, usually as part of 'the mile' pub crawl and have probably sat in it!!

From what I can gather, tax collector Sir John Gell (1593-1671) built his house 16 Friargate a few yards away, where his descendants lived until 1852. Their family crest featured a greyhound which is probably where they got the name of the pub from.
