Subject: Madge Maupin Haney remembers Mrs. Rule

BONNIE Rule was my 5th grade teacher at Wylie Elementary School in 1950-51.
I especially remember her paddling students and her stern demeanor. She focused on spelling and correct pronunciation. I am a retired English teacher, too, beginning my career at Coles Jr. High.
On the first day when teachers met in the Putnam Jr. High Auditorium, there sat Mrs. Rule- waiting to greet me with a big "Congratulations" and a hug.
