Subject: Walking to school---Poage, Putnam, & Paul G. Blazer

Thirty-four years after graduating from high school, I still can't get over the fact that from where I lived in the 1960s---Ranch Road, just off Beech Street---I was able to walk to school from elementary right on up into high school. That's virtually unheard of today. I walked to Poage Elementary, then to Putnam Junior High, then to Paul G. Blazer Senior High. School buses were an unknown at these schools. Everybody traveled to school either on foot, by car, or by the old Ohio Valley Bus Company buses. It would be interesting to know if anyone else reading this post can claim the same thing---memories of walking to school from elementary clear up into high school.
