Alvin thanks for posting. In my view I can't say it's the hotair that damaged your phone. Well it depends on the temperature setting you used to change the LEDs. As a precaution, too much heat will melt other contacts especially on the other side of the board.

The second thing about modifying anything inside you phone is the risk for ESD (ElectroStatic Discharge) which could reach several thousand volts and would surely kill your phone if you are not careful. I hope you practice an ESD free workplace when you opened you phine, because as I can observe most shops don't have the necessary ESD protection.

Anyhow, the best solution for now is to return your unit if it's still under warranty. I just hope you can put it back together and make it look untampered :-)

Schematics and manuals for this unit is quite hard to find. I hope other visitors can share a link to these.
