Subject: M40 mast condition-"ouch"
In reply to: Michael & Gabrielle/Moontide 's message, "breaking Masts and dry rot" on - Saturday - 03/31/12 - 9:54pm

Michael.....I'm near aquiring an (much older) M40....this message and notice you've placed here brings considerble concern!
I've dealt with a couple of (marine) surveyors attempting to procure other boats and found that none of them (that I've dealt with) seemed to be overly concerned with the mast or even had the desire to go up one..or for that matter, know what, how to look for...

I'm not too thrilled of the thought of having a predicment like the one you experienced somewhere enroute West Coast to the Hawaiian Is.!

Any thoughts (in hinesight)of what to look for other than trying to determine if mast has ever been replaced? Where did you find one and did you have to re-mortgage your house or car to acquire one. Did you have it done in (Oregon?).

By the way...where did you see the Adrian "experience"

Aloha

keoni
