Subject: Broken main mast on the way back from Fl

After spending the winter in Fl. I headed back on Sunday May first from North Miami to Annapolis Md area. Noon time I was in the Port Everglades inlet under east 20 kn winds and heavy seas , Golf stream is nasty. 1.30 pm on the golf stream doing average 9 kn. 4.30 back stayes broke lose. The top of the mast has snaped,( later found dry rot under the shive) the starbord upper shroud was holding the masthead that has split about 3-4 feet, all the lines were jamed...
2-3 hours later I was at the Lake worth inlet soon to drop anchore in Lake worth. Next day got an appointment for Wendsday morning to unstep the mast at Cracker boy boat yard. A million stiches to recondition the sails took all the time till then. Mast down at noon time on wensday. Not much to do because it did rain for 3 days. During this time got the lumber( Duglas fir, Couldn't find sitca spruce) at a local store, clamps, epoxy , sandpaper, etc and as soon as the sun started shining got to work from sun up till dark wouldn't let me go further . A week later sat morning they brought the crain and the mast was up with new spreaders and mostly new fasteners, 2 coats of sealer and 4 coats of varnish. Tension the stayes , placed the tools , etc took a lot of time. Next morning connected the electrical wires, clean the dinghy, packed it, etc and around 2.30 pm I was on the way to go for a seatry . So about 2-3 hours later I was on the golf stream again and 9 days later with a few Mahi-mahi in my belly steped at the Magothy Marina in Severna Park, Md. It was a great experience.

I love my boat.

For pics and further info please give me some directions how to because I'm not good with computers.
