Subject: Mariner 31 Ketch

Hi,
I am looking at a Mariner 31 right now in Guatemala. It would be my first boat.
Any advice would be great.

Hi Oliver,

They are great yachts, getting a bit older now though. We've been living on ours for 5 years.

We had to replace the deck and the wooden spars had been replaced by the previous owner. If it still has a Perkins engine in it they are pretty reliable.

Do you have a listing link I can look at?

Make sure the decks are solid. They were the weak link due to the Japanese plywood that they used. Many of us have had to do deck and other bulkhead work. It helps if you are not shy about doing woodwork. Mariner yachts are wonderful boats that are easy and comfortable to sail.
