I agree w/Steve. If you intend to sail the boat or at some later date sell it as a working boat, I'd install a head in the proper way.
Another resource is your local WestMarine rep--or similar where you are. They'd have good ideas about plumbing a new head and could walk you thru the options.
As to blisters, Murre had a few just below the water line on one side of the hull (I presume it was the "sunny" side in some previous marina), but they were really just "pimples", i.e. none were larger than an eraser head and none were below the gel coat. So, frightening, but not serious. I opened and filled them and then sealed the hull, and none have returned.
