I'm not sure what the size is on a 36 but on my 32 I'm able to get 250' of 5/16 HT in the locker in front of the bitts and still have room for a rope rode in the space behind them. Have you tried putting the chain in?

Same here. On our M31, I store 100 ft of 5/16 chain and about 300 ft of rope rode in that locker w/relative ease.

I don't like it cause so much weight is so far forward (20lb windlass, 35lb CQR and about 130 lbs of rope and chain is more than the poor bird was designed for, I think), but the locker has plenty of capacity.

I've toyed w/the idea of a large pvc pipe or equivalent that would let the chain drop from the hause pipe down into the area dead below the center of the vberth, which is huge and currently empty, but haven't figured a way to do that and not lose space for my feet or shins or knees when sleeping, etc.
