Subject: Why punkrock?

Hey boys and girls, After reading the skin-bash-o-rama of recent mention, I'm wondering why so many people choose punk-hardcore-oi-and so on, and then flip and get all soft around the edges when they think there might be violence or danger? I know why I like it, but I'd like to know why others do. Have you ever listened to the music? Some of it is pretty fuckin radical; all hostile and pissed off and threatening all kinds of shit against the "system", cops, posers...You get the idea. Anyhow, I'd especially like to hear some sort of explanation from the anonymous that have reared their heads lately. What was the attraction? Personally, the crust-punk with the crazy tempos, and all the screamin and agony is a joke. If you are gonna be a pacifist, why try and sound so hard? Why try to look so scary? Just wonderin...And if it's Ska, or one of the other more listener friendly forms of music, why subject yourself to a hostile scene, unless you just like it?
