Subject: CLASSIC TOP 40

I'm passionate about the popular music most of us in the western hemisphere have known since the 1950's. Specifically, any song that can claim American Top40 status. Not necessarily because I personally like every selection, but because the American Top40 chart represents to me a kind of musical timeline that accurately reflects the prevailing moods, and therefore the interests of the public at large in any given period during its run. Viewed from that standpoint, it all seems historically significant. It's our Rock 'N' Roll heritage!

Would anyone care to discuss the absence of such a format among traditional (terrestrial) broadcast radio stations? If so, please post your comments here. I'd be interested to know if I'm the only individual ever to wonder where the hits of my generation (those that don't fit the Classic Rock or Oldies formats) have gone.

Meanwhile, I've compiled a collection of every Top40 song from 1956 through the present and presented it for broadcast via the Live365.com server. However, for the purposes of this program I've drawn the line at the turn of the Millenium and called it CLASSIC TOP 40. It's not a chronological rock-umentary. It's a mix. Rather like a soup containing bits from every decade since the birth of Rock 'N' Roll. Heavy on the mid-60's through the mid-80's, but it all gets played.

Check it out at http://www.live365.com/stations/148681
