I think that the show is great, but I can't understand how the main characters seem to go in and out of the storyline.
For example, in one episode last year there seemed to be a juicy possibility of an inter-racial affair between the Sharon Leal character and the teacher that was fired for keeping Milton Buttle's affair a secret. I think his name on the show was Kevin Riley. He had asked out Miss Sudor and then he was gone. Wassup with that?

In addition, the Rashida Jones (Louisa) affair with Milton Buttle never got past the flirtacious stage. Marla never gets a man. Those full passionate lips of Jeri Ryan are not being put to good use. Marla never gets a man. Other than Harry Senate and a nutty ex-student, Lauren Davis never dates. Are we to believe that women this hot never get hit on after school hours? Is Steven Harper the only person with a sex drive on the show, other than Scott Guber, and Harper's daughter? Danny Hanson's wife left him after having an affair. Harry Senate walks around like a zombie on Xanax.

What's going on?!!! You have the most beautiful women in the entire school system and they have no social lives?!!!!
Hmmm. Doesn't David Kelly seem to do the same things with his female characters on Ally McBeal? All the women are somewhat dysfunctional (as are the men, for that matter).

Some other matters I'd like someone to explain are:

What happened to the girl with the racy internet site that had all the BP gossip? Did she graduate? Was it ever addressed?

Why doesn't Sharon Leal have more work in show biz? She's one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen.

Shouldn't there be at least one student used for light humor, a la the Warren Cheswick character on Ed? It could be one kid who's a smooth operator that the female teachers find themselves falling for, or one who always has a scheme going.

Finally, at what point will they finally introduce an African-American MALE teacher (see Mr. Dixon played by Lloyd Haines in room 222). It would also be a nice touch if Denise Nicholas from Room 222 could play an older teacher on Boston Public. David Kelly might also find the actors who played Bernie and Jason on that show and bring them on.
