I've been getting messages the last two days saying that my computer is shutting down and restarting...I know, I have a virus!
I thought it was ME that wasn't allowed to see the boards, whew! In a way I am releived. But then again, this feels like a vacation, a strange locale, but still familar faces!
Hope all is going well with the people who are trying to fix this problem!

It looks like you've got that Sasser virus that's doing the rounds, Marsha! There's a virus removal tool on the Symantec website if you haven't got it fixed yet: (http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.sasser.d.html)

It is weird to be over here on the Voy board, but at least we're not completely cut off! Keep checking for updates - when we get them, you'll get them!!!

Hey MARSHA!

My husband went to the microsoft site and downloaded a security patch for Windows XP. I'm not sure which version of windows or IE you are using, but you might want to check for security updates.

We've been lucky not to get a virus, yet. Cross my fingers and knock on wood.

The updates page at Microsoft actually checks which version of Windows you are running and offers only those patches which are appropriate. I did mine as part of routine housekeeping at the weekend.

Jan, I've gone to that link, downloaded the info and did the scan....it says I don't have the sasser worm.
UGGG!! My Norton says I don't have a virus either.
Anyone else with any suggestions?? Any at all??
Here's the message:
LSA Shell (export version) has detected a problem and needs to shut down.
It then shows another window were it counts down 1 minute till it shuts down my computer and restarts it. It shows a exe file..I researched it, I don't have that file; with a code number.
And then wham! I'm done! Cooked! Turn me over to burn the other side!
Any suggestions would be appricated. I only hope I can stay connected long enough to try them out! LOLOL

It definitely sounds like the worm to me - which attacks the computer's LSASS file. I'll hunt around and see what I can find.

I think we might be able to go home now, Kay just emailed me to say the board was back up!
