"Love takes off masks that we fear we cannot live without and know we cannot live within."
-James Baldwin
() Resting away from the others, in a light sleep, her white coat was catching the light’s first rays as they topped the mountain peak and made dancing shadows around the woods. A light scent of smoke was in the air, its source unknown by unthreatening. Her amber eyes were locked behind her flickering lids as she slept. All night she had stayed by Khastin as he slept on. She felt it was her duty to protect and watch over him, but something else made her stay. Something she wasn’t aware of and something she had never felt before. As she worked to solve what this feeling was that was growing inside her, she had another puzzle. Last night she had noticed something different. Maybe it was her imagine nation at such late hours, but honestly, she thought there was a star. One she’d never before seen. It was opposite the moon, all alone. It was bright and choked out all the other stars that might have been around it. Compared to it, the moon looked shadowed and forbidding. She worked through every constellation she knew, but she still couldn’t place the star. It was brighter then the North, and in the wrong place anyway. What ever it was, she knew it hadn’t been there before. Her ears perked upon hearing the voices of her friends. One eye lid was opened lazily, revealing her amber eye strikingly. Khastin had awoken, seemingly healed and fine. The morning had come, as it had since the beginning of time. She watched from the solitude she had chosen for herself the night before. Eyes fluttering from one wolf to another, like a butterfly does upon the different flowers. Sigh was emitted, ‘cause the dirt about her muzzle to mushroom and settle quickly. Head was lifted, both eyes opened and watchful. Tail wagged as her front paws were stretched before her, head rolling back, big yawn escaping her drowsy jaws. She stood, stretching her back legs out behind her and neared the group. Another yawn was stifled quickly, as not to look rude, and haunches hit the dirt a little roughly. Pelt was shaken thoroughly to remove the leaves and dirt on her right side, and after all this, her gaze rested on Khastin. Head was lowered to his, heck straightening out to point her nose to his, sniffing lightly. Worn pads were ready to push away if he were to be angered by her nosiness. ‘Khastin? How do you feel...?’ She was sure the other’s had asked before, but she had missed it and she hoped he didn’t mind sharing the news again ()
