Subject: Greetings!

Greetings from Susan Schlick Schmidt, Class of 1959.
I and my two brothers, Rolland (Mick) and Bill Schlick, attended Scarborough from 1953 through 1957 (when Thom Schuller was Headmaster). We actually lived in Scarborough (aka the Vanderlip Estate). Those were some of the best years of our lives, mainly because of Scarborough Country Day School and the wonderful friends we made there (not to mention our fantastic teachers – my high school French is still getting me along on our frequent trips to France!).

My brother, Mick (class of 1960), and I see each other often and every time we do, we reminisce about the “fun Scarborough years”. I think often about my classmates and wonder where their lives have taken them. (Renee and Harriet Meyers, Leslie Moglen, Philip Kane, Maddie LePidus, Frank ?, are just a few of my classmates.) One of my favorite memories is of being a cheerleader during the years our basketball team was among the best in the state! Anyone remember that?

After high school graduation (from New Trier High School in Winnetka, Ill.) I attended the University of Wisconsin. I have lived in California since 1965, graduating from California State University at Los Angeles. My professional life for the past 25 years has been as a human factors engineer for Lockheed Martin Corporation – working on some very exciting military programs, indeed!

Thanks, Ned, for creating this website! Now that I know of its existance, I will check back for any updates. (Your last name is familiar. Did you have an older brother?)

Hi Susie,

Remember me from the class of 57? I was a cheerleader for a couple of years, too, and enjoyed all the basketball games. Still my favorite sport. Yes, the years at Scarborough have great memories for me. I assume you learned your french from Mme Riche,as I did. In fact, I worked for her one summer, babysitting her two girls, in exchange for French lessons.

Linda

Hi Susan. I remember being on the cheerleading squad with you. I was a year ahead. I remember the song "wake up little suzie" was popular about that time, which always made me think of you. Linda Albert '57
