Winter afternoon on a hill outside Liverpool
Looking across to where the Mersey flows
Eyes that water from the wind so cool
In the distance are the mountains we all know

Only a short distance but still another country
Atop those hills rain squals and gales
Heavy clouds kiss the peaks effortlessly
The land of holiday childhood called Wales

Clouds start to lift to reveal a weak sun
Hills seem omminous in silhouette
Memories of years gone by enriched with fun
Time rolls on as the sun begins to set

Turning and walking back down the hill
Smiling to myself with what was once
Only with the good memories does time stand still
Life goes on and new days will dawn in a nuance
