Subject: Chapter 1 "Keep Your Eyes Open"

Chapter 1:

Simon has been sitting at the bar now for over an hour. He�s had so many beers that he�s lost count. The bartender finally decides it�s time to cut him off.

�Look, you�ve had to much to drink already I�m not giving you anymore.� The bartender replied to a very drunk Simon.

�Oh come on mate, a few more won�t hurt. I need something to make me forget about what a miserable life I have.� Simon replied, obviously very drunk.

Still the bartender refused to give him anymore and just as Simon was about to lose his temper, a man came up from behind.

�Do you need help here?� The man asks the bartender.

� Yeah, this guy can�t understand the word no. Maybe you can do something with him?� The bartender asked, wanting Simon to get out of there.

�Don�t worry I�ll take care of him.� The bartender then leaves and the guy continues with, �Mr. Frasier and I have some unfinished business to discuss.� The man then grabs Simon by the arm and pulls him out to the alley behind the club.

When they get to the alley Simon sees the man's face for the first time, even though it�s dark out and realizes who it is. The man is Marty Walker, one of the various loan sharks looking for Simon.

�Look Marty I told you. I don�t have the money yet. When I do I�ll give it to you. You just have to be patient.� Simon replied.

� Yeah, well patience is something I don�t have. You were supposed to give me the money last week, but you said you needed another week. So, being my generous self I gave you the week. Now here we are and you still don�t have the money. It looks like I�m going to have to teach you a little lesson then.� Marty replied, then hit Simon in the mouth. Simon was too drunk to really fight back. However he did try, but Marty�s punches were too hard.

After constant punching from Marty, Simon just collapsed in a heap on the ground. Blood was running from his mouth and he wasn�t moving. Feeling he had proved his point, Marty left, not even checking to see if Simon was dead or alive. As Simon�s lifeless body laid on the ground a shadowy figure walked up to it. The figure kneeled down and felt for a pulse.
