Randy and Kevin did gel as partners in their roles on the show, but also as good friends in real life, and I think that's very obvious in the episodes. As the years progressed, they were so much at ease with one another and it *did* seem as though they were conversing with one another rather than reading a script. Randy often makes mention of the fact that he still thinks of Kevin as his best friend, and that they get together whenever they can. Personally, I think that was the main attraction of Emergency! - the relationship those two shared. They were great together. (What do you mean, he let his hair get out of control?! I loved that long, shaggy mane!!)
