About 3 weeks ago my father lost a beloved pet. We got a set of shar pei brothers one fawn and one blue, the blue was my fathers and fawn was mine. Well we purchased wrinkles(blue)before he was even born and even before my dad layed eyes on that little ball of wrinkles he knew that he had picked the right breed to own. Right away my father fell in love with him, i mean love at first sight. It was so apparent that he loved his puppy. Now that was in Aug. 1999 so about 5 years ago. We watched as our pei puppies grew up and matured into adult dogs. But about the first of this year Wrinkles started losing weight for no apparent reason. I mean wrinkles was the runt so he was smaller than his brother but, i mean he lost alot of weight almost 20 lbs. in 3 months. My father took him to one vet visit after another but, there was never and explanation of the extreme weight loss. Until a few weeks ago when he turned for the worst. One day he just stopped eating and it looked like every step he took, he endured torture. So we called the vet, she then said to make a decision, to put him down or let him go on his own. So my dad thought ill give him a few more hours at home and then im gonna put him down. My little sister and i went to work about an hour later and half way threw my shift i got a call from home. My mom was calling to tell me the horriable news that wrinkles had passed just away. The tears streamed down my face as she told me about his last seconds alive for wrinkles. The story goes as follows, he was unable to walk on his own and my dad was by his side. Wrinkles started to wemper which within seconds turned to gasps of breath. My mom said that my dad got on the floor and layed next to him and petted his head slowly as wrinkles passed. My dad layed him down and started crying, realizing his best friend had just passed away. Later on the next day our vet contacted us and told us he had died of cancer, my dads birthday was 3 days later. He stayed in bed for a day then, was in shock for about a week after that. I know he is hurting really bad inside and ive approched the subject of a new puppy this week, and thats where i need help! I need to find the right one... please, please can someone help me? He is up for it and i just cant find any one to help me!!! Sinceraly, Desirae
