Simply put, Canada does not have enough of a scarce commodity (money) to waste in this manner. Statistics Canada indicates that there were approximately 560 homicides per year over a five year period and only about 160 per year were comitted with guns. during the same period, approximately 5000 women died every year from breast cancer. Government collects money from all Canadians and we expect that our elected officials will spend money so that we get maximum return on investment. . How much would an extra billion dollars advance cancer research?
Iknow many who have succumbed to cancer. I do not know anyone that has ever been shot.
