No, Dee, the employer should not make Nanny live in his office. She will not have any privacy and neither will he be able to keep his work reasonably confidential.
Both of them would need to leave things out and expect that they be untouched until their return. Everybody needs a little personal space that no one else touches, a place to relax and unwind.
It would take a special kind of close-knit relationship before a nanny would be able to survive in that setup for very long.
Other benefits for a full-time nanny include use of a car for work and personal use, health care benefits, retirement benefits, respect for her work and for her time off, and any other tools/materials required for her to do her job. For instance, they need to give her a cell phone if they expect to be in touch with her at all times.
