I work 35 hours per week, and live in the Midwest (Columbia, Missouri)...and I almost left at one point when things got so financially tight it was unbearable. I told the baby's mother I was seeking other employment because of this and she wanted desperately to try and talk her husband into raising my salary as she likes and trusts me. It didn't work. He proceeded to explain all the "perks" of the job, such as occassional pharmacuetical company's paying for lunch and that the salary I get is actually more but there are "deductions". WHAT deductions?! I don't even pay taxes on this job. He talked about he and his wife both being in the building to take him every once in a while and such. He was just being circular trying confuse me. I don't know if I'm way off here, but I think because he and his wife come from India, and she's told me how poor it is over there, that they might think 150 dollars a week is alot. I don't know. I guess I just don't want to admit to myself that he might be plain ole'stingy. Regardless, I HAVE tried talking to him just in the context of my needing to seek other employment due to financial difficulties. He didn't seem to get that giving me medicine samples, or offering to let me come in and work as an office assistant beFORE the baby gets there, wasn't helping. I go to school full time in the evening as well. I'm exhausted by the end of the week. I often work Saturdays. It seems hopeless. He doesn't care.
