Peggy,
I am a nanny and a former nanny agency owner, and have both placed nanny-shares and worked as a nanny in more than one. Yes, in general, a nanny makes about 25% more in a share than she would working for only one family. So, if for example, you were paying your nanny $12 per hour, she would make $15 in a share arrangement. How you split it up with the other family (who pays how much) depends on if the nanny always has both infants, or only part of the time with both. Also, make sure you are clear on whose home it will be at (I recommend swapping no more frequently than once every two weeks), who pays for what supplies, etc. Get everything crystal clear BEFORE you sign on a nanny so that there are no misunderstandings between you and the other family that could spoil the relationship. Also discuss your child rearing philosophies, thoughts on foods, outings, tv, etc.. so that you and the other family can come to an agreement and there are no hard feelings later because one of you wants your child to go to the zoo and the children's museum, and the other does not want the children to go anywhere. I have seen this type of thing happen many times, but if you are pro-active about discussing it all before hand, it can work wonderfully. For tax info, check out the links on www.nannyanswers.com
