Subject: Experience & Education requirements

I am currently gathering information on childcare providers / nannies, and was wondering if you could give me some guidance as to what is the industry standard for "required experience" and "required education level" for a Nanny? What does the National Association of Nannies recommend one should state as a experience requirement when taking out an ad in the newspaper classifieds? Is there an educational background one should also require?

This would be for three children: one infant, one young child and one early teenager.

Looking through the Department of Labor guidelines on professions and their required skills, it states one should look for 1 - 3 months experience for hiring a nanny. Is this too little or is it the industry standard?

I would really appreciate any help you could give me with this and if you could direct me to a good source of classifieds in the South Florida area (Ft. Lauderdale/Miami) where to look for reliable nannies.

Once again, thank you for your time and help.

Best regards.
