In the past two years I have started to work as a part-time and as needed Nanny for 4 families. This has proven to be a wonderful and challenging career and one I believe will stay with me till I retire. I have been a full-time Nanny for 20 years and doing childcare for since I was 10 years old. This makes my childcare duration at 49 years and still going strong.

Almost all of my jobs have started with infants and toddlers which is my favorite. Now I am having families with older children and am not real sure how to begin with the entertainment. Everything else falls in place so need some help or web sites to help me with this aspect. Can someone share their experience with me? My latest job coming up for one week is with 10 and 14 year old girls. We clicked immediately but would like some input please. All of my other children are under the age of 5 and I am in complete control so never had to think twice about how to entertain them.

For anyone interested, this has been a blessing to work for several families, (evenings out, meetings, back-up for regular Nannys, day out for themselves, etc.) I have to turn down jobs now as I can get to busy. Also I want to be free for these Mothers. Very good salary.

I talk too much sometimes, but am sincere in all that I do. Please respond. Thank you, Judy

>Hi there. I am not sure where you live but check out Children's Museums in your area. The Austin Museum has great rotating exhibits! Also, check out Family Fun on the web at familyfun.com---lots of craft ideas here! I have also purchased books like Year Round Craft Ideas for Kids--it includes ages for the crafts. Ask the kids what they would like to do---board games are great because both of them could play. How many hours do you spend with them? Isn't a 14 year old too old to have a Nanny?
Hope these suggestions help! Donna
