I've been a nanny for the same family for 4 years. I've never had to tell a family I was leaving, I've always left when I was no longer needed. My dilema is I make not nearly enough money with the family I'm currently with and I know they cannot afford more, the husband had spent 6 months out of work. I've tried holding a second job to avoid having to leave this family and that idea worked for them, but I'm going nuts running around so much. I dont' know how to tell this family that I think this school year should be my last and that I should start looking for another job this summer. Any suggestions?

You may benefit from a nanny share. Another local family would add their child(ren) to be cared for in your employers' household at the same time you normally work, and you would then receive more money without having to work extra hours in another place.
You would need to propose this to your employer, and consider things like extra food needed to feed extra children, and any other changes/considerations that this new arrangement may bring about.
