I don't know where for sure where you would find an exhaustive list, per say, but if you look at the contract section on www.nannyanswers.com , you will find a pretty extensive list within the body of the contract. However, in general, a nanny is responsible for any/all duties DIRECTLY related to the care and nurturing of your children. This can include planning and preparation of meals (including shopping for them), planning and execution of age appropriate activities (including transportation to/from them), children's laundry, clean up after the children and her/himself, teaching the children age and developmentally appropriate life and academic skills, caring for your children when they are ill, maintaining a clean and safe environment for your children, taking them to and from school, appointments, and other activities, assistance with homework, etc.. The list is much more thorough on the web site. Please remember that a nanny is not a housekeeper, and her responsibilities do not include taking care of or cleaning up after the adults or pets in the household. She also should be adequately compensated if you ask her to use her own private car for work (make sure her insurance company allows this, many do not!) through gas reimbursement, assistance with vehicle upkeep, and any increase in insurance premiums. She should also not have to pay for herself or the children for any outings or meals out while caring for your children. In addition, she is an employee of your family just like you probably are with a company and you must pay the legally required taxes, meet minimum wage requirements, pay overtime if she is a live-out nanny, etc.. For pay and tax information, check out www.gtm.com or www.breedlove-online.com . Both are domestic employement tax companies. I hope this helps get you started!
