Subject: Pregnant Nanny - Pay Difference

I am a nanny for a great family who has an 8 year old boy, and a newborn baby boy. When they hired me they didn't know I was pregnant. Our agreement included the following:
Pay based on an average work week of 36 hours. If I worked less or more I would still be paid the same $300.00/week. I was to care for their infant and their eight year old before and after school, including getting him to and from school. I also assume basic nanny responsibilities such as cleaning up after kids and making sure the house is clean and neat everyday, structuring the 8 year olds day after school and making sure his homework and chores are done. I think this is a great situation. I really like this family a lot. BUT, now that I am pregnant the four weeks I plan to take off after the baby is born means that the 8 year old needs someone to watch him - the grandmother is going to watch the newborn, she doesn't have a car so she can't get the 8 year old to and from school. So we are thinking that the 8 year old will continue going to the pre and after school program that he was in when I started, (I just started a couple of days ago). However, this is going to effect my pay. But how much should it effect my weekly pay check? The parents have to pay $40.00 a week to keep his place at the after school program. He will keep going there, even while I am working through my pregnancy until I come back after maternity leave. So, how much should this effect my paycheck? I will still be working the same number of hours and doing all the other things assumed and still to be assigned. What the difference is is four hours of watching the eight year old while also caring for the newborn. I understand that this is an inconvenience for the family, who both parents are in the military, so we can't take any chances of having no care for the children because they can't just call in sick, and am willing to tacke a pay-cut, no doubt. But what is fair? Should I be docked for a full $40.00 a week?

Please let me know what you think.
Eryka :)
