I am a professional part time nanny and have been working for my current famiy for a year. The oldest just started kindergarten full time, monday through friday. I won't have take care of him much anymore. The youngest is starting preschool two days a week and the parents have suggested that I take care of her cousin as well to financially compensate for less hours now that the kids are in school. I would be taking care of two two- year- olds, a boy and a girl...one for only about 8 hours of the week, the other the rest of the time. What or how do I determine a pay rate in this situation? In the past 5 years I have never made less than 13.50 an hour caring for one child...and I make 17.00 an hour with my primary family. I was thinking of suggesting 27.00 an hour for both kids (8hours a week)...That would mean that my primary family essentially gets a "discount" those hours (13.50 instead of 17.00 an hour) and the cousin's family gets care for a reasonable price. Does this make sense or am I way off? Any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Greta
