If you have a lot of tightness between your teeth on the bottom, I can see why he'd want to extract. I had one of those "hiding" teeth on my uppers, my upper right lateral hid behind the others. My ortho put a spring in and gave me months to make room. I don't know if your ortho is being impatient or if he can just tell from the tightness of the teeth that there's no way they'll make room and extraction is the only option. But don't worry so much about your lower midline. Look in the mirror, put your teeth together and smile. You really can't see much of your lowers. Plus, when people look at your smile, its that upper midline that really gets the attention. Trust me, no one looks at our teeth nearly as much as we do, not even our orthodontists. Something that is glaringly obvious to you might not be noticeable at all to someone else.
