Eh, I'd say the new forum has been running VERY well. The increased functionality and security involved with the new forum software has been rather awesome and, I believe, outweighs the loss of a couple of people unwilling to register.
Apart from that, I don't really see your point. Are you assuming that you will receive junk mail because you register on the new forum? I highly doubt that will be the case. On that forum, you even have the ability to not make your e-mail address public.
