i just had my first cleaning since since having braces. the perio said i'm doing a great job at the gumline but also need to focus on the bracket sites themselves.
i didn't floss the first few days after getting braces either because of all the added hassle and pain. but what i did do instead is use act twice a day and brush 4 times a day.
the commercials say that listerine stuff is as good as flossing but that's just advertising for you, they say what they want.
after a weeks of just using act and the pain going down, i started flossing every other day. and then a short time later flossing every day and using act less often. i also got a pick and scrape the inside backs of my lower teeth as it builds up there the most & fastest.

i think you should try a regimen like that... just build up to it and you'll be fine
