 The issue isn't clear versus silver, it's latex versus metal. In other words, the reason for the metal ties isn't that they're easier - they're actually take more time to put on and are about the same for taking off. Rather, the reason for the metal ties is primarily that they're tighter, and also that they have less friction.

Instead of fretting over this, ask your orthontist to get the white coated wire ties (teflon coated, I think). These won't show.
