Hello Mga Kadugo!
Well, finally there is something to post on our website. I just received an e-mail from Henry Lapuz the current CLCYF President. They are planning to hold a leadership training seminar November 2-5, 2005. I have attached their proposal to this posting. They are asking for 9,000 pesos financial support from us. I don't know if anyone is planning on going home next month or how you want to handle this request. Let me know.

LEADERSHIP TRAINING SEMINAR ’05
November 2-5, 2005
Rizal Central Church
Theme: “Out of Order”
Rationale:
The UCCP from the National Council down to the Local Church Council are required to meet regularly to discuss pertinent matters regarding the welfare and development of their organization. An important tool in this activity is the parliamentary procedure that is being followed and observed in most organizations worldwide.
The CYF in its National Youth Assembly is also adopting the same procedure. It is generally observed that CYF’ers that are not familiar with the procedure is reluctant to participate in the deliberations. They are afraid to be charged “Out of Order” by the chairperson. This observation is also true during our conference sessions. This situation could lead to the conclusion that CYF’ers presence in the said sessions is insignificant. Knowledge of parliamentary procedures is necessary to every Youth Leader to be able to follow the proceedings in the mentioned events should they be given the chance to attend such activities. This knowledge will add confidence for them to participate and be significantly present not only in church meetings but in other organizations as well. They must also understand the organizational structure of the UCCP to be able to have a deeper grasp of our system of administration.
Objectives:
At the end of the training the participants are:
1.Familiar with the organizational structure of the United Church of Christ in the Philippines
2.Capable of practicing parliamentary procedure in formal organizational meetings.
3.Able to come up with a concrete and meaningful program of action and plan for the next term of CYF officers.
4.Confident in participating in UCCP organization meetings and sessions.
Target Participants:
Local Church Youth Leaders (maximum of 2 per local church)
Training:
The training will be conducted for four days with 3 lecture topics. The first lecture will discuss on the organizational structure of the UCCP, what is its composition, how it works, what are the duties and responsibilities of each post. Some related topics regarding our constitution and by-laws may also be discussed. The second will focus on the parliamentary procedures, how it is composed, how it works, what are the rules of debate etc. The third lecture will be “setting the stage” for the practical application of the first two lectures, creating the agenda, composing the parliament and assigning key positions. A practical application of the lectures will follow. The Youth Leaders in Session will discuss important matters that concern the CLCYF, the coming CLCYF Christmas Institute and CLCYF Elections.
